Today's sketch - day 4 ....

That Hippy guy...


Maybe one a day was a bit optimistic - maybe I should make it once a week to make sure I can keep up with it.... its not the drawing and sketching thats the problem, its uploading it to the PC every evening :) 

Todays sketch -day 3

Back to school today for many Aussie kids after Christmas holidays. Back to work for me after 4 days off too. Its been a bit of a scorcher here - in the 40s. A dip in the kiddy pool with Miss A was just what I needed when I got home today :).
Very excited this evening as I ordered the 'Drawn to Life' Golden years of Disney master classes books and they arrived today and Ive barely cracked the first one and I lovvvvveeeeee it! :)
Anyway, here are two little sketches to celebrate back to school.... dedicated to all our little friends who are this year starting school for the first time xx

So.... Im already second guessing myself about trying to commit to 12 months worth of arty goodness and whats more posting every one. Oh well, I can but try... so for day two of 365...  ulp.... heres my post

Its Australia Day!

Happy Australia day to my country men and women. To me, some of the most wonderful aspects of the Australian culture are the sense of 'mate-ship',  giving everyone a fair go, standing up for the underdog, being laid back and a having a great sense of humour. I hope we always keep that! ××

In honour of Australia day... well because i really want to progress with my illustration, I have decided to do some form of art /illustration every day for 12 months ( i think I have done this before and i think I usually last a few weeks before full time work and other things get in the way....).  This time I am going to give it a good go, try to go from this Australia day to  next Australia day. 

They won't always be elaborate or maybe even that good, but no harm can come from daily practising:).    I really want to improve my artwork, get my skill levels up and basically have fun and see how much I can progress my abilities .... so ....   

here I go!

3 days of work and now 4 days off! That's what I call a good work week!
Wish it were always like that and then i could spend more time creating... :)

I am building up my portfolio at the moment, trying to mix it up a bit and add a bit of variety. I'm meant to be getting some of the art where the main character isn't standing looking out at me, but, I do find I am drawn to them as I go through my art folders. :)

Illustration Friday _ Energy

The Illustration Friday this week is "energy"
It led me on a bit of a journey this week. I was going to do someone lifting weights or in some way exerting lots of energy. Then, in thinking about that, I started thinking about when i offered to carry my little daughters school bag and found it ridiculously heavy ....  then I started thinking about children having to carry such  a weight on their back.
All of that morphed into this picture and  this little boy is now devoid of energy after carry a heavy weight, whether that be the one on his back or a deeper one we cant see. Maybe he has to channel his energy into studying for an exam... What do you think
Anyway,hope brighter days are ahead for him.
I know this weeks word took a lot of energy to bring to fruition for me.... :)

Illustration Friday this week is Creature. I was feeling inventive. This is the little known Himalayan doyakorse. Don't let her appearance fool you, whilst she seems docile enough she could take you're arm off if your not careful! 

Oh poo! i missed the deadline for the illustration Friday word "Entangled" and I even had an old one ready to go.... too busy, that's my problem. Oh well, enjoy it anyway

The jury is out on this one, she is not my favourite illustration, but I don't have more time to adjust her. 

I figure this girl is having snorkelling lessons, perhaps at our local aquatic centre where dibbydabby illustrations has done some character design for swim classes.... :) ..... (Yah!!)..... :)

I have been very lucky to  have been working on some exciting illustration projects which is wonderful for me, I'm finally edging toward my dream :)

Illustration Friday survielance

Just a quick doodle today, surveillance makes me think of spies, and spies make me think of Spy versus Spy which I love reading in Mad magazines whenever I can . I haven't bought a Mad for a little while now, might be time to invest in some more I think.
This is a classic spy joke which never loses its humour for me. I'm sure the spy versus spy guys have done it before too.

Illustration Friday - Sweet

Good morning - well it is as I write this here. Its a four day weekend for me - Yah! No wonder I'm happy!

The Illustration Friday word this week is sweet so I decided to put this little illustration up for my submission.

We have a sweet little friend who had a birthday recently and she requested a painting of bunnies and these are the bunnies I came up with for her. I was surprised as I had previously done a painting for her and thought one would be enough as children probably wanted toys and fun things for birthdays more than artwork, Because of this it was a bit last minute when she asked me but I felt really proud that she did. 

I'm happy to report they were well received and these bunnies now have their own new and very loving home.
