For years the old folk of the town talked in hush tones about the woodland werewolf, said to come out every lunar eclipse. It was told that it was a strange creature, that seemed to resemble a collection of twigs and branches and clumps of fallen foliage moulded together in the form of a wolf. It had a lust for blood and could be heard baying at the moon.
None of the younger locals had ever seen one and strongly believed it to be an old myth, but every eclipse, all the towns people locked their doors and barred their windows just in case.
Every morning after a night of a lunar eclipse, farmers would find strangely mutilated and half devoured animals in their herds.
What do you believe......
Lovely execution of a twiggy werewolf. Don't know about the myth though...
ReplyDeleteSpooky tale and I love how you've captured this wild woody werewolf. He looks like he's just broken free from the inside of an old old tree and he's on the run!
ReplyDeleteI love the loose quality of the werewolf... and an interesting tale!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that comical fellow would do such things.
ReplyDeleteI also think that this guy is a friendly creature, nice work!
ReplyDeleteA very strong image. I like the subtle use of color...wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for visiting and commenting.
ReplyDeleteBTW - I do believe I am wondering now if it might be that the urban werewolves are coming into the country areas and giving the old woodland werewolves a bad name. Stranger things have happened!
